The Mercer area has over 200 lakes within 20 miles of the town. Most lakes have public access. You may rent boats and canoes from area businesses and can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing, tubing, water skiing and golfing. Or if you prefer, have lots of fun riding on the ATV trails.

The Turtle Flambeau Flowage is just a few minutes from our door.  It is a 19,000-acre heaven for the avid fisherman. In fall, enjoy the beautiful Colorama. The trees burst into beautiful color. This is a great time of year to go for a hike and enjoy nature and this panorama of autumn colors. Or try your luck for that big musky or walleye. The area provides good bear, deer, grouse, duck and goose hunting too.

Winter brings snowmobiling to the area.  We have over 450 miles of groomed trails in Iron County.  All of the Iron County trails connect with other major county trails.

• We  have a group rental house right next to the motel that can be rented by the night (2 night minimum), the week or the month. Fall 2008 (thru November) rate special $100/night for up to 5 people.  See the rental house page for more info on the house.
• There are numerous places to eat and drink within one block of the motel and a mini-mart is right next door for supplies.
• There are many miles of groomed cross country ski trails and Mercer is only 30 miles from four of the major ski hills in the Midwest – Powderhorn, Blackjack, Whitecap and Indian head.
• Try your luck at Fishing on our many lakes.
• The Loon’s Nest Motel has direct access to Trail 17/51 (Rail Road Grade) Downtown Mercer!
